How to Deal with Emotional Eating

Tuesday, August 25, 2009
There are two kinds of eating. The first is healthy eating and the other kind of eating is emotional eating. Eating healthy is eating when you're hungry, and emotional eating is eating to make sad, angry, or nervous go away.

When life gets tough or you feel lonely, sad, or empty inside, food can easily become your best friend. Actually eating due to emotional changes can lead to obesity and poor eating habits.

To deal with emotional eating, you should figure out what triggers this behavior in you. If stress is an obvious trigger for you, be sure to find a group that help you cope with both your eating behavior and the emotional stresses in your life. Remember that feeling your feelings is the only way to stop emotional eating and achieve real happiness. Here are several steps to end emotional eating.

- Talk Yourself Out of It
- Chew Your Food
- Get Enough Sleep
- Drink Water
- Drink Green Tea
- Manage Your Stress
