Tips for a Healthy Breakfast

Thursday, August 6, 2009
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Many studies show the body functions best when we break our overnight fast with a healthy breakfast. Eating breakfast is associated with being more productive and efficient in the morning hours. You may think that skipping breakfast will save you calories in the long run. Actually, people who skip breakfast end up consuming more calories than they should the rest of the day. So eating breakfast can help prevent overeating later the day.

A healthy breakfast and a glass of juice are a good start to the day. Breakfast foods that have some protein, a little fat, and naturally present sugars and unrefined starches are good option because give the longest lasting energy. Cereals, whole-grain pancakes and waffles, and yogurt with fresh fruit are good examples of a healthy breakfast. Try not to mix too many different foods together so you can get better digestion and assimilation, and less gas in your system.
