Stress can have a variable effect on body weight. Stress is our emotional response to event in life. Behavioral response to stress may take the form of eating disorders, such as obesity and anorexia nervosa. Most women are aware that stress will make you eat. It's common to respond to stress by distracting yourself with your favorite comfort food. So if you're already under stress, you may find a weight-loss program somewhat difficult to implement right now.

If you respond to stress with eating more, learning new ways of coping with stress is important for you. Find ways to simplify your life, learn to relax, and deal with emotional issues so they don't block your weight loss program. The better you are at defusing that stress, the more successful you will be in your weight loss efforts.

You can attend stress management seminar or stress management training program to learn how to handle your stress. Stress management can be one of the most important things you do for yourself in your weight loss efforts. Stress management training may include instruction in time management, goal setting, counseling, self-awareness, relaxation techniques, and identification of stress situations and symptoms.
