Getting prescription glasses

Tuesday, October 26, 2010
Probably the most common eye problems are refraction errors, which include nearsightedness and farsightedness. A nearsighted person has difficulty seeing objects at a distance because the light rays coverage and focus before reaching the retina. Many people in the United States have some degree of nearsightedness. Farsightedness is the common name for a defect in vision in which a person sees near objects with blurred vision, while distant objects appear in sharp focus.

Problems with nearsightedness and farsightedness can be corrected by wearing prescription glasses that adjust the eye's focusing point. You should have your eyes checked when you first notice your eyesight is not as sharp as it used to be. When you get your prescription for corrective lenses, you can go to local optical stores or online on the Internet to get prescription glasses. Prescription glasses are available in glass and plastic lenses. Both glass and plastic lenses can provide excellent vision, although some people feel that they see more clearly with glass.
